DESCRIPTION:The Carroll County Farmers Market is holding its Mother’s Day Show on May 9th; hours are 8:00am – 2:00pm. The market is all indoors with 60 vendors and a free giveaway of a flowering plant to the first 500 moms to arrive. \nThe Mason-Dixon Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society will be joining the Farmer’s Market this year for Mother’s Day. There will be a whole room dedicated to educating customers about the many different kinds of rhododendrons there are and how to plant and take care of them. Rhododendrons and Azaleas will be available for purchase. \nThere will be many beautiful hanging baskets\, potted plants\, spring garden plants\, herbs\, and flowering plants available for Mother’s Day gifts. Our producer only market offers Handmade Crafts\, Fine Arts\, Homemade Baked Goods\, Gourmet Food Items\, Candy\, Fresh Local Eggs and Pasture Raised Meat\, wine and cheese. \nBreakfast and Lunch are served all day. Pancake breakfast and egg sandwiches are popular breakfast items. SUMMARY:May 9th - Mason Dixon Rhododendron Society Show and Sale
DESCRIPTION:Will be a part of the Carroll County Farmer’s Market this year. \nLike many of the chapters of the American Rhododendron Society\, the Mason-Dixon Chapter holds a flower show every spring\, highlighting the azaleas and rhododendrons that are blooming at the time. Due to the mysteries of Mother Nature\, the display varies from year to year\, changing if the season is early\, average or late. \nIn 2025\, the show will again be in Westminster\, Maryland\, on May 9th. It will be held at the Carroll County Agricultural Center in conjunction with the Carroll County Farmers’ Market. We will be open from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM. \nThe highlight of the event will be the chapter’s annual truss show\, featuring flowers from many different varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas. In addition to ribbons\, a number of prizes will be awarded to the top entries\, including the “People’s Choice Award\,” decided by the popular vote of all attendees. \nExpert advice and educational materials will be available at both shows\, and rhododendrons\, azaleas\, and numerous companion plants\, such as hostas\, hollies\, and numerous perennials\, will be offered for sale by the chapter and selected vendors. And of course\, we will have our ever-popular club table where you will find all sorts of interesting items. SUMMARY:Free State Daylily Society Sale at the Carroll County Farmer's Market
DESCRIPTION:  \n       \nOn Saturday\, May 9\, 2026\, the Free State Daylily Society (FSDS) will be offering for sale over 75 different varieties of daylilies at the Carroll County Agricultural Center in conjunction with the Mason Dixon Rhododendron Society. This will be our second year at the Carroll County Farmer’s Market\, following a very successful sale last spring. \nWith over 75 different daylilies in all colors and sizes for just $5 a double fan\, you won’t find this variety of cultivars anywhere in Maryland at this price. Our plants are bare root and ready to be planted when you take them home. FSDS club members will be there to answer all your questions about growing daylilies and help you select plants for you to buy. There will be color pictures and descriptions of every daylily for sale. At the price of $5/double fan\, you will want several! If you compare our prices to retail nurseries and garden centers or online daylily sellers\, you will find that many of our plants retail for $15 or more. \nWe will also have other potted companion plants for purchase such as irises\, coneflowers\, hosta and Japanese forest grass. All plants have been donated by FSDS members and are all $5 per container. \nThis sale is Mother’s Day weekend\, the perfect time to select some quality plants for mom’s garden or your own. Come by between 8 :00 am and 2 pm (or until sold out) to check out our selection\, but be aware that some cultivars sell out fast. There will be information available on how to grow daylilies\, how to select plants and about FSDS\, for those interested in joining the club. \nCome look for us sharing space with the Mason Dixon Rhododendron Society Show and Sale. \nAll sales will be cash only. Proceeds will support FSDS projects and programs throughout the year.

DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, June 27\, 2026\, the Free State Daylily Society (FSDS) will be holding its Annual Bloom Show at the Carrol County Agricultural Center (Blizzard Building).  This will be the first year for the FSDS bloom show at this location.  \nFSDS members will be displaying daylily blooms from their garden.  Bloom categories include mini\, small\, large\, extra-large\, double\, spider/unusual form\, arrangement\, and seedling.  Members will also be available to answer questions about the blooms and growing daylilies in our area.  \nThis is a great opportunity for the general public to see some beautiful daylilies that you will not see in the local garden centers and to make a wish list for possible future purchases at our August 2 sale at Mclean’s Nursery in Parkville\, MD and August 3 at Benson Hammond House in Linthicum Heights\, MD.  Of course\, we will be back at the Carroll County Ag Center in May 2026!  \n  \nThere will be some plants for sale at this event.  Cash only.  \nSome of last years’ winners.

DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, August 22nd\, The Carroll County Farmer’s Market is celebrating Heirloom Tomatoes. Hours are 8am-1pm. \nTo be considered an heirloom tomato\, the plants must be open pollinated\, which means by the wind or insects\, and has existed for at least 50 years.  The Master Gardeners will provide information on how to grow heirloom tomatoes and have heirloom seeds for customers to take home and grow next year.  In addition to the fresh tomato tasting\, there will be a variety of dishes using the heirloom tomatoes available for sampling\, as well as recipe cards. \nMany varieties of tomatoes will be available to sample and compare: Green Tomatoes\, Black Tomatoes\, \nPink Tomatoes\, Red Tomatoes\, Yellow Tomatoes\, Striped Tomatoes. Lots of food dishes are on hand to taste as well as recipes cards to take home. This is a really great celebration of the many uses of tomatoes. The event is a must see for any tomato lover. Be sure to come early\, however\, because the samples ran out early last year. \nRegular market vendors will provide tomatoes for purchase\, including many heirlooms. DESCRIPTION:On November 14th the Carroll County Christmas Farmer’s Market will host the Carroll County Artists Guild members.  Local artists will display and sell original paintings and prints. \nThe market will have 70+ of its regular vendors selling fall produce\, honey\, farm fresh eggs\, pasture raised beef\, lamb\, pork\, nuts\, wine\, cheese\, jams and jellies\, and gourmet dips.  There will be homemade baked goods including; pies\, cakes\, cookies\, breads\, scones\, and candy. \nThe Market is a producer only market that prides itself on high quality\, handmade\, juried crafts.  Customers can find fall and holiday decorations\, pottery\, a variety of fabric crafts and purses\, jewelry\, baby items\, soaps\, wood products\, and primitive art.  There will also be house plants and fresh and artificial arrangements and wreaths. \nPancake breakfast and lunch are served all day. \nHours at each of the Christmas Market events are 8am -2pm. \nAdmission and parking are free and is handicapped accessible.
