DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, Aug. 1st \, the Carroll County Farmer’s Market will be located on the lower grassy field during the 4-H Fair.  Come early so you don’t miss out on all of the freshly picked produce our market has to offer. \nThis week customers will find available peaches\, tomatoes\, peppers\, cucumbers\, squash\, potatoes\, green beans\,  sweet corn\, cantaloupes\, broccoli\, cauliflower\, cucumbers\, cabbage\, kale\, carrots\, beets\, and onions. \nOur food stands provide home baked goods\, including cakes\, pies\, scones\, cookies\, breads\, rolls and \nbiscotti. You will also find jams and jellies\, honey\, nuts\, fresh eggs and more. \nEach week will offer an assortment of handmade crafts. DESCRIPTION:Oakenmist Renaissance Faire \nSaturday\, August 15th – 10:00am – 6:00pm \nSunday\, August 16th – 10:00am – 5:00pm \nHear ye\, hear ye!\nWelcome to the Oakenmist Renaissance Faire\, complete with local demonstrations\, performances and a marketplace from the time of yore! \nWe are in a covered\, air-cooled facility – we shall proceed rain or shine!  If the weather is nice\, some of our activities and vendors may be outdoors. \nAt the moment\, we are planning for martial (fighting) exhibitions – in addition to FREE hands-on lessons in whip-cracking and using a sling as a weapon (yes\, that means you crack a whip and use a sling to hit a target)\, along with numerous educational troupes  (typically called “edutainers”) and period-appropriate denizens – Renaissance period dancing\, artisan exhibitors demonstrating skills such as illumination (calligraphy)\, embroidery and weaving\, gameplaying\, metalworking\, and music. \nThere are a number of performers scheduled\, including those from distant Renaissance events\, as well as those from our faire in previous years.  We welcome those who have never attended a Renaissance event as well as those who regularly attend events on the Eastern seaboard every year with attractions that differ from what is usually seen.  We have a focus on education\, local organizations and small businesses that you may not typically see. \nWe are hosting more than 70 vendors of handmade medieval products\, fortunetellers\, a bakery\, a meadery and many others! \nOnline Tickets go on sale Friday\, May 1st thru Aug. 14th at midnight. \nVisitors are encouraged to purchase tickets online at oakenmist.com to take advantage of early bird pricing and to avoid waiting in line at the gate. \nAdmission price: \nEarly Bird Adult single day general admission – $18.48 (online) \nEarly bird Adult weekend general admission – $33.63 (online) \nEarly Bird Family Day Pass – $33.63 (online) \nEarly Bird Royal VIP Weekend Pass – $71.00 (online) \nDay of event: Adults $25 for single day entry. \nChildren are included with an adult ticket at no addition charge. \nhttps://www.oakenmist.com \ninfo@oakenmist.com \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Heirloom Tomato Festival at the Farmer's Market - Aug. 22nd
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, August 22nd\, The Carroll County Farmer’s Market is celebrating Heirloom Tomatoes. Hours are 8am-1pm. \nTo be considered an heirloom tomato\, the plants must be open pollinated\, which means by the wind or insects\, and has existed for at least 50 years.  The Master Gardeners will provide information on how to grow heirloom tomatoes and have heirloom seeds for customers to take home and grow next year.  In addition to the fresh tomato tasting\, there will be a variety of dishes using the heirloom tomatoes available for sampling\, as well as recipe cards. \nMany varieties of tomatoes will be available to sample and compare: Green Tomatoes\, Black Tomatoes\, \nPink Tomatoes\, Red Tomatoes\, Yellow Tomatoes\, Striped Tomatoes. Lots of food dishes are on hand to taste as well as recipes cards to take home. This is a really great celebration of the many uses of tomatoes. The event is a must see for any tomato lover. Be sure to come early\, however\, because the samples ran out early last year. \nRegular market vendors will provide tomatoes for purchase\, including many heirlooms. All other local produce is also available\, as well as watermelons\, corn\,  farm fresh beef\, pork\, lamb\, and The Hen’s Nest farm fresh eggs. \nOur food stands provide home baked goods\, including cakes\, pies\, scones\, cookies\, breads\, rolls and biscotti.
